I would like to know how to transcribe and write down everything I have on my heart about this "virus" that has destroy our lives for quite some time, but I don't think I can. So I’m going to focus on what I think I can do and that makes me feel good. Create images and share them.
This series of photos dates from the end of October. A meeting in Montpellier which turned into a photo weekend, with my X-Pro2 and the 50mm in Acros mode.
After a few small tweaks on Lightroom, I uploaded a photo gallery in the PLACES section of this site.
I wish you all good luck for this year which has just started ...
J’aimerais savoir retranscrire et écrire tout ce que j’ai sur le coeur au sujet de ce “virus” qui nous empoisonne la vie depuis pas mal de temps, mais je ne pense pas en être capable. Je vais donc me concentrer sur ce que je crois savoir faire et qui me fait du bien. Créer des images et les partager.
Cette série de photos date de fin Octobre. Un rendez-vous à Montpellier qui s’est transformé en un weekend photos, avec mon X-Pro2 et le 50mm sur le mode Acros.
Après quelques petits ajustements sur Lightroom, j’ai mis en ligne une galerie photos dans la section PLACES de ce site.
Je vous souhaite à toutes et à tous un bon courage pour cette année qui vient de débuter …

It's time to do some sorting in my library. And I found this little series left aside and forgotten. Some images that seem "ordinary" to us at first mature better than others and create surprise when we see them again. This is why I always have a hard time deleting my stored photos permanently.
Décembre …
C’est le moment de faire un peu de tri dans ma bibliothèque. Et j’ai retrouvé cette petite série laissée de côté et oubliée. Certaines images qui nous paraissent “banales” dans un premier temps murissent bien mieux que d’autres et méritent quelquefois de ressortir. C’est pourquoi j’ai toujours autant de mal à supprimer définitivement mes photos stockées.

Going back to my Lightroom library, I found a few photos that I had left out.
After a 2.33:1 crop to give that “cinematic” aspect; converting to black and white and some tweaking, I figured these images deserved this little post.

En faisant un petit retour en arrière dans ma bibliothèque Lightroom, j’ai retrouvé quelques photos que j’avais laissé de côté.
Après un recadrage en 2.33:1 pour donner cet aspect “cinéma”; une conversion en noir et blanc et quelques ajustements, je me suis dit que ces images méritaient cette petite publication.

A WEEK BEFORE
It was the week before, during preparations.
In the meantime, there have been these government announcements and quite a few complicated times for them to manage. But they got there. They are now married. After a wonderful weekend.

C’était la semaine d’avant, pendant les préparatifs.
Entre temps, il y a eu ces annonces du gouvernement et pas mal de moments compliqués à gérer pour eux. Mais ils y sont arrivés. Ils sont aujourd’hui mariés. Après un magnifique weekend.

LOCKDOWN
I have not been too active in recent weeks here ...
There are several reasons for this.
Lockdown took up quite a bit of space in my head. The opposite happened to what should have happened. When I had more time in front of me to do things I love, I just wanted to wait for time and life to pass, and do nothing. Of course I continued to take my camera and take pictures. But they remained on the SD card. I didn't feel like the whole process that comes after the shot. Transfer to iMac or iPad, edit, write ...
I also collaborated with a photo magazine that I buy regularly. Writing an article for their website and an interview took up a lot of my time.
The magazine with which this collaboration was made is called Fuji X Passion. It’s a magazine specializing in this brand that I love so much. There are many reports and interviews there. There are many photo documentary and interviews there. The quality of the images and the photographers I discover there very often leaves me in awe. And I personally find a lot of inspiration there.
We got in touch with a photo I took during lockdown, which I posted on their website as a comment.
With the many photos I took during this period, I was thinking of creating an article or two for my blog. And then these articles turned into an interview that you can find today in this magazine accompanied by my photos.
I’m not hiding from you that it’s a great pleasure to see my name on the cover of a magazine.

Je n’ai pas été trop actif ces dernières semaines sur ce journal…
Il y a plusieurs raisons à cela.
Le confinement a pris pas mal de place dans ma tête. Il s’est passé le contraire de ce qui aurait dû se produire. Alors que j’avais plus de temps devant moi pour faire des choses que j’aime, j’ai juste eu envie de regarder le temps et la vie passer, de ne rien faire. J’ai bien sûr continué de prendre mon appareil et de faire des photos. Mais elles restaient sur la carte SD. Je n’avais pas l’envie de tout le processus qui vient après la prise de vue. Le transfert sur l’iMac ou sur l’iPad, la retouche, l’écriture…
J’ai aussi collaboré avec un magazine photos que j’achète régulièrement. La rédaction d’un article pour leur site web et d’une interview a pris le pas sur la tenue de mon blog.
Le magazine avec lequel cette collaboration s’est faite s’appelle Fuji X Passion. C’est un magazine spécialisé autour de cette marque que j’affectionne tant. On y trouve beaucoup de reportages et d’interviews. La qualité des images et les photographes que j’y découvre me laisse très souvent admiratif. Et j’y trouve personnellement beaucoup d’inspiration.
Nous sommes entrés en contact grâce à une photo que j’avais prise pendant le confinement, et que j’avais posté en commentaire sur leur site internet.
Avec les nombreuses photos que j’ai fait durant cette période, je pensais créer un article ou deux pour mon journal. Et puis ces articles se sont transformés en interview que vous pouvez retrouver aujourd’hui dans ce magazine accompagnée de mes photos.
Je ne vous cache pas que c’est un grand plaisir de voir mon nom en page de couverture d’un magazine.

A GIRL AND TREES
A few months have passed since I had submitted the idea to go make this photo shoot. She's called Marine, so it would have been more logical for this photo shoot to be done at the seaside rather than in a forest... but I had noticed this place several times going to the mountains and every time I passed there I told myself that I absolutely had to come and take pictures with her under these trees. A late afternoon free during the holidays, an evening behind my computer and that's the result. Next photo shoot in 2019, in the snow...?
Quelques mois se sont écoulés depuis que je lui avais soumis l’idee d’aller faire ce shooting. Elle s’appelle Marine, il aurait été donc plus logique que ce shooting se fasse au bord de la mer plutôt que dans une forêt... mais j’avais remarqué cet endroit plusieurs fois en allant en montagne et à chaque fois que je passais là je me disais qu’il fallait absolument que je vienne faire des photos avec elle sous ces arbres.
Une fin d’après-midi libre pendant les vacances, une soirée derrière mon ordi et voilà le résultat.
Prochaine séance photos en 2019, dans la neige...?

RINGS, BUBBLES AND CONVERSE
This day did not look like the day we had.
It was when we arrived in front of their home that doubt settled. Everyone was waiting outside and the house was closed. Some were there for a housewarming party and others for a birthday.
Then a message appeared on our phones; the day would not start at home but at the town hall... for their wedding!
My camera is still waiting patiently in my bag for occasions like this, and I have never photographed a wedding. It was the perfect moment for a little introduction. No pressure for me, there was already an official photographer, it just did not bother him.
Some bubbles, two rings, converses...
They are now called Sir and Madam.
Cette journée ne devait pas ressembler du tout à celle que nous avons vécue.
C’est quand nous sommes arrivés devant chez eux que le doute s’est installé. Tout le monde attendait dehors et la maison était fermée. Certains étaient là pour une pendaison de crémaillère et d’autres pour un anniversaire.
Puis un message apparut sur nos téléphones; la journée ne commencerait pas chez eux mais à la mairie…pour leur mariage !
Mon appareil attend toujours patiemment dans mon sac des occasions comme celle-là, et je n’avais jamais photographié de mariage. C’était le moment parfait pour une petite entrée en matière. Pas de pression pour moi, il y avait déjà un photographe officiel, il fallait juste ne pas le gêner.
Quelques bulles, deux bagues, des converses…
Ils s’appellent maintenant Monsieur et Madame.

WEDNESDAY
It's been two weeks since they have returned to school. And with the return of September comes the return of activities.
The little girl has no school at all on Wednesday. I do not know if it's good for her pace but she will be able to rest. She continues her drawing classes.
For the big no change to the program, school in the morning and of course his riding lesson in the afternoon.
We would have appreciated that she chose a sport a little less dangerous, but it is his passion and we can not do anything else than accept it.
Even when we receive calls telling us that she has fallen off the horse and that it should quickly come to get her because she has a very bad arm. It was more than a year ago and she had a broken wrist.
She asks me for months to come take a picture with her ponies. I finally got access to her request on Wednesday.
She will return from her course without her left shoe and a crushed toe. The biggest pony in the center weighing more than six hundred pounds had the good idea to put his leg in the wrong place.
But that's his passion and we can not do anything other than accept it...
Cela fait maintenant deux semaines qu’elles ont repris le chemin de l’école. Et avec le retour de septembre vient le retour des activités.
La petite n’a plus école du tout le mercredi. Je ne sais pas si c’est bien pour son rythme mais elle va pouvoir se reposer. Elle continue ses cours de dessin.
Pour la grande aucun changement au programme, école le matin et bien sûr son cours d’équitation l’après-midi.
On aurait bien apprécié qu’elle choisisse un sport un peu moins dangereux, mais c’est sa passion et on ne peut rien faire d’autre que l’accepter.
Même quand on reçoit des appels nous disant qu’elle est tombée du cheval et qu’il faudrait vite venir la chercher car elle a très mal au bras. C’était il y a plus d’un an et elle avait eu le poignet brisé.
Elle me demande depuis des mois de venir la prendre en photo avec ses poneys. J’ai enfin pu accéder à sa demande ce mercredi.
Elle rentrera de son cours sans sa chaussure gauche et avec un petit orteil écrasé. Le plus gros poney du centre qui pèse plus de six cent kilos ayant eu la bonne idée de poser sa patte au mauvais endroit.
Mais c’est sa passion et on ne peut rien faire d’autre que l’accepter…
